American Management Association Expands Scholarship Program for International Students Studying in the U.S.

Joint Program with the Institute of International Education Exposes Students to American Business Practices

NEW YORK, February 14, 2007

International students and scholars studying in the United States are invited to participate in management education and professional development programs offered by American Management Association (AMA) as a result of a joint program between AMA and the Institute of International Education (IIE). AMA will provide up to 300 full scholarships to qualified students in IIE-sponsored programs to attend AMA seminars in 2007.

Fulbright students and scholars as well as Humphrey Program Fellows are eligible to apply for the AMA scholarships.

AMA’s world-class programs, ranging from general management to project management and executive leadership, complement the rigorous academic courses in which these grantees are enrolled. Seminars generally span two to four days and cost on average $1,800. Most scholarship participants will attend seminars at AMA’s Executive Conference Centers in Atlanta, Chicago, New York, San Francisco or Washington, D.C.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for us to help future leaders from all over the world acquire the essential management skills they need to leverage their potential and make a significant impact when they return to their home countries and organizations,” said AMA President and CEO Edward T. Reilly. “Working with IIE ensures that our programs reach the most outstanding future leaders from around the world.”

This joint program with IIE is one component of AMA’s global outreach initiative designed to bring the advantages of proven management development training to new populations.

“We’re delighted to be expanding this program with AMA,” commented IIE President Alan Goodman. “AMA’s training programs supplement the rigorous academic courses our international grantees are taking and expose them to American business people and practices in a collaborative team setting. The AMA Nonprofit Scholarship Program adds a rich dimension to their learning experience in the U.S.”
